About Eddie
Eddie McCarthy is a play-by-play broadcaster, radio host, reporter and multimedia journalist based in Syracuse, New York. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in broadcast & digital journalism at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
McCarthy is a play-by-play announcer for ACC Network and ESPN+. He calls college ice hockey, field hockey, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse and softball. He also interns with the Syracuse Crunch, serving as a pregame and postgame host and fill-in play-by-play voice for Crunch broadcasts on ESPN Radio Syracuse.
Eddie completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in political science. He also played catcher for UChicago’s baseball team for four years, competing in the NCAA Division III Tournament his senior year after joining the program as a walk-on.
